Just a few thoughts on a Friday morning 11-9-2012

2007 Pacific typhoon season

Once again we have learned how unprepared most of us are for natural disaster with Super Storm Sandy. Most of us do not have enough provisions to make it through more than a few days to a week and very few of us have back up power such as a generator. Though for the most part we can survive without electricity but clean drinking water and ready to eat food that requires no heating or MRE’s like our military uses most of us do not have enough of or any at all. Though chances are low most of us will ever experience such tragic circumstances such as a natural disaster it is still a possibility so we should at least be somewhat prepared out of safety. A months supply of Water and Food should be at least the minimum we should have on hand and some basic first aid supplies would also be prudent. At the very least it would be a good idea to have a source of fresh and clean drinking water, the human body can survive without food for quite a long time but water it can not last beyond a few days to about a week.

Just another Sunday Rant from a working man.

040 So many distractions from the important things of life, too many people trying to tell you what is wrong or right. Too many get rich quick programs being pushed on the poor and the only ones getting rich are the ones pushing the programs. Good food is more expensive than the unhealthy prepackaged foods. The wealthy are the only ones now days who can afford to keep healthy. Insurance rates still climb and the coverage keeps getting less and less. Polar bears and many other animals are facing extinction due to the warming of our planet. A few species of animals are actually coming back due to the climate change as well. Politics fill the air waves more than any other news because of the upcoming elections.

063 Our governments are loosing sight of the important issues at hand and can not seem to break away from their partisan political agendas. The governments of the world need to focus on the ecology, economy and alternative renewable energy sources. They need to cut spending but not put all of the burden on the less fortunate and elderly. Far as governmental regulation of businesses, it wouldn’t be necessary if the big businesses would worry more about making affordable quality products than about their profit margins. If the big corporations would actually play fair and by the rules then there wouldn’t be anything to regulate. A fair tax system along with the removal of all the fringe benefits of being a federal government employee would help save a lot of money. Maybe the congress needs to work for minimum wage and pay the same for insurance and face the same tax rate as an average person, then maybe they might be able to relate to the working class.

049As I have said many times before, I find it very funny how quick our congress jumps at cutting social security, Medicaid and Medicare  and they never even think about cutting their benefits and retirement from the congress. They seem to forget where all the money comes from, how the working class along with the retired workers are the ones who have and still do foot the bill  for everything.

Keeping faith, Update on Trish’s Cancer… Possible Good news.

p10328update: possibly it is not a tumor, ultrasounds don’t show conclusive. Waiting on Cat scan results. Keep your fingers Crossed and Prayers coming. BTW thanks to all the support from my Friends. Trish sends her thanks too. Well the next update wont be until Monday. Then we should know for sure.

Keeping the faith when all is great is easy; keeping the faith when all is falling apart is true faith.

Today I am trying to keep positive in mind and spirit, even facing the news that cancer has returned into my fiancé’s life. She had Thyroid Cancer about 10 years ago and a relapse about 7 years ago and now another relapse. They are not 100% sure so they are doing a biopsy today, though it’s more than likely cancer due to where the growth is located. I am asking all the bloggers out there and my followers to send positive thoughts and say prayers for Patricia Hamblin. I place her and the cancer into the hands of god and into the hands of those who can pray. God bless you all.

Keeping the faith when all is great is easy; keeping the faith when all is falling apart is true faith.

beyond the trap of following the social ideals

newprofilepic  Low self-esteem seems to very common place in America now days, seems a good percentage of the population have little if no faith in themselves or their abilities. Some of this is created by the family environment during the early years of our social and personality development.  But it seems that he age of mass media has the greatest effect on our self image and in turn it affects our self-esteem. Being bombarded with unrealistic thin supermodel females and overly muscle-bound males would make any average man or woman feel inadequate or sub par. Too much focus has been on the physical and not enough on the actual mental and emotional side. What one looks like does not dictate who they are or what they can achieve in life. The truth is that what society considers beauty changes decade to decade. There was a time when a heavy-set woman with pale skin was considered  very sexy and tall thin men were the hot item on the market. Unfortunately we seem to always look to society to choose for us what is sexy or not. This creates a lot of self-image problems for the majority of us that are just average looking . Until either society gets real or we as individuals get beyond the trap of following the social ideals we are handed we will be dealing with a lot of low self-esteem.

The truth is each and every one of us have their own ideal of what we consider attractive and/or sexy.  Not all men like skinny model types or bombshells and not every woman wants a Weight lifter. In the end the physical beauty fades and only the personality and heart remains. So it seems we should be more concerned with what one is inside than what they look like on the outside. Though I believe we all are beautiful and that being sexy is more an attitude than a look. For god does not make ugly things, only mankind labels things as such. Is it possible that we judge others negatively in order to try to hide our own faults?

Most of us are only one or two paychecks away from being homeless

015  Now that winter time is here it is time to start to think about those who are at high risk during cold and severe winter weather. Neighbors, relatives and friends that may be up in age that need to looked after during snowstorms. Simple things as getting them groceries and making sure they have adequate blankets as well as water. There is also the homeless that need warm clothing, food and blankets if not help finding a local shelter. The local shelters also need supplies including food to take care of those in need. Even if you have very little to give or you have a busy schedule you can afford to give a few minutes of your time or a few pieces of clothing you no longer need or want. You can always get your church or organization to start a food drive or campaign to aid those in need. The least one can do is drop off a donation at a local church or non profit to help. Just remember most of us are only one or two paychecks away from being homeless so with that in mind help those that are.

May god bless you in This new year of 2012 and may you share the blessings with others.
